Pink pigeon (Nesoenas mayeri)

The Pink pigeon is endemic to the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius. Once on the brink of extinction (just 12 wild individuals in 1986), the Pink pigeon has rebounded to more than 300 individuals thanks to an intensive management plan.

The Pink pigeon feeds on buds, leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds of both introduced and native plants.
